Recently, Ravi Shastri has stated that Kuldeep Yadav is Indian National Cricket Team’s first preference ahead of Ravichandran Ashwin. The statement has made a lot of stir in the cricketing news, as few analysts expressed their concern. The latest to join the bandwagon is the chief of BCCI’s selection panel, MSK Prasad.

Ashwin was one of the chief contributors to India’s success in the home Test season. He has bagged astounding numbers during the season to make things fall in place for the team. Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav has got a lot of limelight after his performance in Sydney Test.

There are no two ways, Ashwin is no 1 – MSK Prasad

Speaking of Ashwin, MSK Prasad quoted that he is the prime bowler for India in Test cricket. He believes that the opposition will make a certain plan in order to tackle him, which tells the story of Ashwin’s case. MSK further highlighted the fact that injuries are a part and parcel of the game.

“Undoubtedly. There are no two ways about it. Ashwin is our No. 1 spinner and he is one of the best spinners in the world,” Prasad told Sportstar on Wednesday. “In fact, every country we play, they always plan against Ashwin first compared to other spinners. He is our premier spinner,” MSK Prasad said.

Ravichandran Ashwin is a legendary spinner:

Further, he added that Ashwin is a legend, who helped India to achieve a lot of success in Test format of the game. He believes that the talented cricketer will make a strong return to the game by gaining his fitness in the meantime.

“If we are talking about Ashwin, we are talking about a legendary spinner. We have to accept that first and the number of victories that he has given to us is phenomenal. I am sure as a professional he knows what’s the fitness level that’s expected of him. Injuries are part and parcel of the game of every player. I don’t exactly question as to what happened (with his fitness in England and Australia),” Prasad said.

“Someone who is exerting is only prone to injuries. Someone who isn’t exerting will not get injured. So, I have no doubt about his commitment. It’s unfortunate but he will come back strong. He has so much cricket left in him and he has so much to offer for Indian cricket,” he inferred.

Well, recently, Harbhajan Singh backed the statement given by Ravi Shastri. In fact, he felt that India’s is working their way in the right manner by finding that Kuldeep Yadav is the future. Singh was pretty vocal on Ashwin’s fitness.

However, it seems like MSK Prasad has got a lot of trust on the off-spinner. Well, if the selector is sure of a certain player, one can expect the amount of respect the player garnered with his performances.
