India will reportedly land in Colombo on July 19 to kick start a full-fledged series against Sri Lanka. The Men in Blue are currently in England for the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy following which they will travel to West Indies for five One Day Internationals and one T20 International. The series in the Caribbeans will end on July 9 and as per a report in The Daily Mirror, Virat Kohli & Co. will embark on a 50-day series in Sri Lanka, just 10 days after returning from West Indies. The report further claimed that Sri Lanka Cricket board has sent the proposal of the tour to its Indian counterpart which has given the proposal a go ahead.

The series will consist of three Tests, five ODIs, and one T20I match. The series will kick off with a Test at the Pallekele Stadium on July 26 followed by the second Test at Galle from August 4 to 8. The third and final Test match will be played at Colombo’s SSC grounds from August 12.

The Test series will be followed by a five-match ODI series, starting on August 20 at R. Premadasa International Stadium. The next four ODIs will be played on August 24, 27, 30 and September 3 respectively. The series will conclude with a T20I at R. Premadasa on September 6.

Meanwhile, this is the first full-fledged series between the neighbors since 2009 when Sri Lanka had traveled to India for a complete series comprising of three Tests, two T20Is and five ODIs. It was a memorable Test series for India as they had achieved number one Test ranking for the first time after winning the series 2-0. The T20I series had ended at 1-1 while the ODI series ended in India’s favor with a margin of 3-1.

The last time the two teams played a series was in 2016 when Sri Lanka played a three-match T20I series in India prior to the World T20. Before that, India had visited Sri Lanka in 2015 for a three-Test series and had won the series 2-1.
