Who would have expected that Shahbaz Nadeem would end up striking the pose with the Gandhi-Mandela cup at Ranchi? However, destiny made it possible with the last-minute injury to Kuldeep Yadav, who was replaced by Nadeem at his home ground. Right away, he got the chance in the playing XI and delivered as well. Meanwhile, Sanjay Bangar rates Shahbaz Nadeem over Ravindra Jadeja.

Shahbaz Nadeem, who made his debut in the Ranchi Test and impressed one and all with his bowling, picking up 4 wickets in the match as the home side won by an innings and 202 runs to sweep the series 3-0 against South Africa.

Nadeem got two wickets in both innings and affected a run out during the match to cap off a splendid performance in his first international match for India. India needed 2 wickets on Day 4 to win the match and Nadeem concluded it off by sending back Theunis de Bruyn and Anrich Nortje off continuous deliveries in the second over of the day.

Meanwhile, speaking of Shahbad Nadeem, Sanjay Bangar quoted that the youngster is a complete bowler. Explaining about Nadeem, he added that the left-arm spinner can trick the opposition even when the pitch isn’t offering turn or bounce for the spinners.

“He had a chance back in 2017 in Sri Lanka. But he finally got his chance. It was a last-minute exclusion and team management backed him to play. He is skilful of bowling and different pace and different points of release. He is a complete spinner,” he said to ESPN Cricinfo.

“Jadeja would require some assistance from the wicket. But Nadeem can toss the ball and beat the batsman in flight, He can undercut the ball. He can be an all wicket bowler,” he concluded.

All in all, it was a memorable debut for Shahbaz Nadeem at Ranchi. It will be interesting to see whether he will be continued in the Indian team or not with Kuldeep Yadav in the mix.
