Sourav Ganguly Thanks India And Bangladesh For Playing In Delhi

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has thanked Team India and Bangladesh for playing the first T20I in Delhi despite the dangerous pollution level in the city. The pollution level dominated the talks before the game took place on Sunday. There were also speculations that the BCCI might also shift the game to a new venue.
During the last week, air quality levels across India’s national capital declined alarmingly. The visiting cricketers had to wear face masks during their practice sessions. But the BCCI could not shift the venue and both the teams went on to play the game. The players also made sure not to criticise the weather as they focussed more on the match on hand.
In the end, the first T20I took place successfully as Bangladesh defeated India to take the lead in the three-match series. And as soon as the game ended, Sourav Ganguly took to Twitter to thank both the teams for playing in tough conditions. He also lauded Bangladesh for their impressive win, writing:

Bangladesh, meanwhile, registered their first-ever T20I win over India after losing eight games in a row. The Tigers came up with a solid performance with both bat and ball to stun their fancied hosts. Asked to bat first, India recovered from a shaky start to post a challenging total of 148 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs.
Shikhar Dhawan top-scored with 41 while Rishabh Pant scored 27 from 26. The likes of Shreyas Iyer, Krunal Pandya and Washington Sundar also played handy knocks. For Bangladesh, Shafiul Islam and Aminul Islam picked up two wickets apiece.

In reply, Bangladesh chased down the total with three balls remaining. Senior batsman Mushfiqur Rahim starred with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 60. In the 19th over, Rahim hit four consecutive fours to all but put the game to the bed before skipper Mahmudullah hit a six to take the team over the line.
