The experiment of the selection committee to test Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal turned out to be a boon for them.

It has been five series that Kuldeep and Chahal are playing for India since replacing R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

At no point in time, team India seemed like missing Ashwin and Jadeja.

This is a pure indication that they (Kuldeep and Chahal) have done well.

With World Cup 15 months away, the talks of them being the frontline spinners for the tournament looks even.

Though, as per MSK Prasad, the team management will decide the spinners for World Cup when the time for the tournament will come,

“The wrist spinners were introduced to create a wider pool of spin bowler for the Indian team. They have done extremely well till now, but ultimately who will be the spinners for the World Cup, the team management will decide when the time comes,” he told The Week.

Looking at the current performance of Chahal and Kuldeep, there is no chance that Ashwin and Jadeja can make a comeback.

However, their real test will be in England where conditions will be in awe of pacers.

A bit of blip in their form can see the senior spinners making a comeback.

The current form though suggests something else.

There is no doubt that looking at the current form, Chahal might go onto replacing any one of  Jadeja or Ashwin for the Afghanistan Test match, keeping the surprise factor in mind.

Though, the form of Kuldeep and Chahal will be the sole barometer for their place in the team.

Ashwin and Jadeja still are not out of the race.

The duo has experience of playing in England in two ICC tournaments (ICC Champions Trophy 2013 and 2017) and can always come handy at big stages.

These two spots are only up for grabs for the World Cup.

Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, and Vira Kohli are a no-brainer for the next World Cup.

Team India is yet to ink on a player at number four but all the options are currently part of the team, and one of those will get a place.

Pace department is also packed with Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and only one more player can walk in.

The only spot which is open is the spin department, due to the inexperience of Kuldeep and Chahal.
