Steve Smith's "Best Deals Of The Summer" For Marnus Labuschagne

Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne get along well. They like their cricket and Labuschagne likes to learn the game from his senior teammate. It is a “match made in heaven” a lot of Australian cricketers jokingly say looking at their camaraderie.

Moreover, Labuschagne, the first-ever concussion substitute has added depth to the Australian batting line-up in Tests. He is still to get going in the limited-overs format.

Steve Smith is quite messy in the change rooms

Steve Smith has been compared to Don Bradman in the purest format of the game. He has done exceptionally well to earn this accolade and his average speaks for himself.

However, Smith is messy in the dressing room, and often needs a hand to pack up his kit. And who better than Labuschagne to help him out with the same.

What was the deal of the summer for Marnus Labuschagne?

Labuschagne and Smith are brothers-in-arms. And the former wants to learn more and more from the latter. Tim Paine, in an episode of The Test on Amazon Prime revealed, Smith promised to give Labuschagne every day if he packed the kit for him.

“Smith is notoriously quite messy in the change rooms, his gears everywhere in the room, so Smithy promised him (Labuschagne) that if he packed up his kit after every test match, Smith gave him the bat and again Marnus just thought it’s Christmas Day,” Tim Paine said 

“It was one of the best deals of the summer,” Marnus Labuschagne said.

Smith and Labuschagne are currently participating in the first One-Day International (ODI) against New Zealand at Sydney Cricket Ground.

Smith failed to do much with the bat while Labuschagne is batting steadily on 32 runs as I write this piece.
