Hyderabad skipper, Ambati Rayudu, and his teammates held a protest during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy game between Hyderabad and Karnataka, which saw the second game of the day being curtailed to 13 overs. This was probably the first time when a game was cut down due to this vague reason.

It was during Karnataka’s innings when one of the shots went past the boundary rope, but erroneously, the umpire didn’t notice it and awarded two runs to Karnataka.

Later, Karnataka skipper, R Vinay Kumar, got two runs added to the team’s total and in the end, the difference between the teams was also two runs.

Hyderabad needed three runs to win on the last delivery of the game, but Stuart Binny dismissed Mohammed Siraj on the last delivery, thus winning the game for his side by two runs.

In the end, it was those two runs that made the difference which irked the Hyderabad camp, who took it to the umpires post the completion of the game, as per Cricbuzz.

Meanwhile, Karnataka defeated Hyderabad by two runs. Batting first, Karnataka posted a total of 205 on the board. After losing an early wicket of Mayank Agarwal, Karun Nair and Krishnappa Gowtham shared 129 runs for the second wicket.

Nair played an innings of 77 off 42 while Gowtham scored 57 off 31. Karnataka were looking good for a total of 230 to 240, but Hyderabad made a comeback and restricted their opposition to 205.

Hyderabad had a flying start as Tanmay Agarwal, and Akshath Reddy shared 60 runs for the first wicket in just 5.5 overs. After Tanmay’s dismissal, Akshath continued hard hitting and played an innings of 70 of just 29 deliveries.

Hyderabad were looking good to chase down the total, but they lost the wicket of Akshath at a crucial juncture.

In the final over, Hyderabad needed eight runs, but Binny just didn’t protect the runs but also took three wickets in the final over, to pull off a stunning win for his side.

Brief scores: Karnataka 205/5 (Karun Nair 77, Krishnappa Gowtham 57; Ravi Kiran 2-33) defeat Hyderabad 203/9 (Akshath Reddy 70, Tanmay Agarwal 38; Stuart Binny 3-29) by two runs.
