The Tigers couldn’t produce any resistance as Sri Lanka bulldozed over them in the three-match series. The batting unit fared poorly throughout the series except for wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim. Senior cricketer and experienced batsman Tamim Iqbal has absolutely failed to put any runs behind the back. After an awful World Cup where he managed to score only 235 runs from eight games at an average of below 30. The series against Sri Lanka was even worse as Tamim scored only 21 runs from three innings with the highest score of 19.

The luck has also not gone Tamim Iqbal’s way and his longtime teammate Shakib Al Hasan has advised the former to take a break from cricket and come back stronger. He also said that players go through this kind of periods and all Tamim need is an excellent break to fresh up.

“A player can go through such bad phase in his career [which is very normal],” Shakib told reporters in Dhaka. “What I think is that he needs a good rest, to recover, to freshen up and [then] make a strong comeback. I am sure he will do this,” he added.

Furthermore, Shakib Al Hasan noted that Bangladesh could take a page out of India’s book on workload management and rotation policy. The top-ranked all-rounder also pointed out that these smalls breaks give opportunities to new players, which helps to create a strong bench strength.

“Indian team can be a good example for this, last year they had least numbers of players getting injured. Their rotation policy is the main reason behind this. And as outcome, they got many players prepared and players got exposure,” Shakib concluded.
