In their quest to bag the 2019 World Cup, team India is preparing hard and long to get their best XI on the paper. However, their ODI series win against the Windies would boost their confidence, and Virat Kohli would want to pack his best fast bowlers ahead of the mega event. Meanwhile, the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah lead the bowling lineup with Khaleel Ahmed trying to leave his mark.

India’s search for fast bowlers continue

Moreover, with Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav in the Test format, India would have a pool of fast bowlers to look at. However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar had played three matches in the ODI series against the Windies and bagged three wickets to his name. Also, Bumrah took six wickets, including a four-for.

Recently, there has been an addition to the list, Khaleel Ahmed. The left-arm fast bowler so far had played six ODI matches and had bagged 11 wickets to his name. He made his debut in the Asia Cup 2018 and left an immediate impact with his line and length. Later, in the Mumbai ODI against the Windies, he had picked up three wickets for 13 runs.

However, India has been waiting for a good left-hander pacer after the departure of Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra from the scene. With the T20Is in line against the Windies, team India would want to test their bench-strength and of course the presence of Khaleel Ahmed.

However, the selectors of the Indian team needs to be extremely cautious while picking up the pacers for the 2019 World Cup. The mega event is a few months away, and with Hardik Pandya dealing with injury and rearing to return, the BCCI would keep a keen eye on the fast bowling department.
