Vinod Kambli Lauds Rohit Sharma for his Magical Double Ton in Mohali

Stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma, who slammed a magnificent unbeaten double hundred in the second ODI in Mohali against Sri Lanka to level the series 1-1, received appreciation from all over the world.

Notably, this is the third time Rohit Sharma has scored a double hundred, the only cricketer in the world to do so.

After suffering a humiliating defeat by seven wickets in the first ODI, Indian team came back strongly to post a mammoth 392 runs on the board after Thisara Perera chose to bowl first. The cricketer from Mumbai, Rohit played an unbeaten knock of 208 runs and was well supported by Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer.

Iyer, who was playing his second one-day international registered first fifty. In reply, Sri Lanka lost wickets at regular intervals, as they could not match up with the required run-rate. The veteran Angelo Matthews although played a magical knock of 111 runs; however, the touring side fell short of 141 runs, as the Men in Blue level the three-match series 1-1, with one match still to be played in Visakhapatnam.

Rohit, who had added responsibility in the absence regular skipper Virat Kohli came back strongly after getting out cheaply in the first match. He broke the shackles after Dhawan got out and made the Sri Lankan fielder go in search of the balls, as he muscled the balls to the boundary.

His knock was built with 13 boundaries and 12 over sixes in just 153 balls. Rohit was applauded by all and all for his devasting knock, and was also adjudged the man of the match.

Recently former India cricketer Vinod Kambli, who had a lot of prospects and made his debut alongside the legend Sachin Tendulkar; however, couldn’t hold on to it appreciated Rohit for the magical knock. He also admitted the 30-year-old Rohit possesses the capability to score three hundred in a fifty overs game.

The 45-year-old Kambli took to social media account Twitter and wrote,

“@ImRo45 .slaughter, slaughter, slaughter.Three double hundreds an Amazing achievement. I am sure in the near future he will be the first one to get 300 agree or disagree.”

India will take on Sri Lanka in the third, and last ODI in Visakhapatnam scheduled to be played on December 17, which will be an intriguing encounter to watch, as both the teams will fight it out to clinch the series.
