Team India skipper Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma thanked former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi after the latter wished the newlyweds.
Congratulatory messages poured in from all quarters after Kohli and Anushka confirmed the news on Monday night (December 11).
Both Kohli and Anushka posted messages on Twitter which read:
“Today we have promised each other to be bound in love for ever. We are truly blessed to share the news with you.This beautiful day will be made more special with the love and support of our family of fans & well wishers. Thank you for being such an important part of our journey.”
Afridi was also quick to congratulate the couple as he wrote:“Congratulations @imVkohli @AnushkaSharma on your wedding. May God Bless you two and give you happiness and a rewarding married life.”

And the newlyweds understandably took some time to react to the wish but eventually did on Wednesday. Kohli, who in the past had gifted a signed jersey and bat to Afridi, referred the legendary allrounder as ‘Bhai’ (brother), writing: ” Thanks Shahid Bhai. ?”

Meanwhile, the couple will be hosting a reception in New Delhi for their relatives on 21st December which will be followed by a reception for industry friends and cricketers in Mumbai on 26th December. Following that, Anushka will accompany Virat in South Africa where Team India will take on the Proteas in a full-fledged series.
