Virat Kohli’s competitiveness on a cricket field is second to none. The India skipper is arguably the most animated and competitive character on the cricket field. One rarely sees the star batsman relaxing on the cricket field. It does not matter whether he is batting or fielding, Virat Kohli never lets the intensity down.

And it looks Virat Kohli is no different when he does not play cricket. Former England opener Nasser Hussain has revealed just how competitive the India batting star is even when he does not play cricket. He has revealed Virat Kohli treats Team India’s customary pre-match drill of football as the the FIFA World Cup final or the FA Cup final.

“I think it’s his hunger for runs and his wanting to win. I watched him play football before, and sometimes football bands etc. The Indian team plays football, and he plays as if it’s the World Cup final, the FA Cup final, the last game in the Premier League,” Hussain said on Star Sports.

“He takes that into cricket, that’s why he’s so brilliant in a run chase. You give him a situation where he could win a game, whatever that game is, and that is all he is focused on. His drive for winning is second to none,” he added.

Virat Kohli has been amassing runs at a staggering rate for years now. However, Hussain said the India captain is not worried about personal records.

“I honestly believe that he’s not worried about stats or the only stat, that he’s worried about is the win-loss ratio,” he said.

As far as stats are concerned, Virat Kohli is way ahead of his contemporaries. He is widely regarded as the best batsman in the world right now.  At just 31, Virat Kohli has hit a staggering 70 centuries and 104 half-centuries in international cricket. With 43 tons to his name, he is second in the list of most centuries in ODIs. Virat Kohli is the only player in the world with average of more than 50 in all the three formats of the game.
