The crowd at the Adelaide Oval, on Saturday, witnessed a historic day as David Warner slammed the highest-ever Test score at the venue. The Australia opener scored an unbeaten 335 to put his side on the driver’s seat in the ongoing second Test against Pakistan. Australia declared their innings on a mammoth total of 589 for 3.

David Warner reached his triple century off 389 balls with the help of 37 fours. The hard-hitting batsman showed remarkable patience and composure and hit his first six of the innings only after crossing the 300-run mark.

Warner’s score is now the highest individual score at the Adelaide Oval surpassing Don Bradman’s 299. Australia declared their innings just after Warner went past the highest Test scores of Don Bradman and Mark Taylor (334). Warner’s 335* is now the 2nd highest individual Test score by an Australian behind Matthew Hayden’s 380 against Zimbabwe.

The way Warner was playing, it looked highly unlikely that he would get out. He could have gone on to break Brian Lara’s record of highest individual score of 400 in Tests. However, Australia captain Tim Paine put the team ahead of the individual and declared the innings.

Fight for the helmet:

As David Warner was walking towards the dressing room after his monumental knock, he received standing ovation from every part of the stadium. The star batsman then came up with a very special gesture by gifting a little boy his helmet. However, it led to some unexpected scenes as Warner’s helmet caused a fight among the boys.

The little boy failed to keep hold of the helmet as the older boys snatched the prized possession from him.

Here is a clip of that fight as well as the interview of the kid who finally had Warner’s helmet:
