Dismissing Steve Smith in Tests is one of the toughest jobs in the game right now. Teams need something special to get rid of the Australia star who has been constantly drawing comparisons with none other than Don Bradman. But unlike most of the other teams, New Zealand are not facing much trouble in dismissing the right-hander in the ongoing series.

The Black Caps, in fact, have come up with a plan to get the better of Steve Smith. In three innings so far, Neil Wagner has dismissed the former Australia skipper and on all those three occasions, he sent back the batsman with short deliveries. In the first Test, Steve Smith managed to score 43 and 16. In the ongoing second Test in Melbourne, he showed his old form and was looking set to score another hundred.

But before he could touch the triple-digit mark, Neil Wagner came up with yet another short delivery to send back him. At the same time, the credit for the wicket should be given to Henry Nicholls too who pulled off an absolute blinder in the slip. After softening Smith with a flurry of bouncers, Wagner bowled another one at the Australia when he was on 85.

It was a well-directed short delivery which reared menacingly. Smith, on his part, could not do much and could only edge the ball towards the slip while being in an awkward position. The ball still looked to land safely before Henry Nicholls to cup a single-handed reverse-cup with his right hand. He grabbed the catch between his fingertips and thumb.

Just like others, Smith was stunned too after seeing the catch from Henry Nicholls. The Australia star, in fact, was all set to take a single when he saw the ball over Nicholls’ head before the latter took the stunner.

Here is a clip of that catch:
