Watch - Kusal Mendis Falls Off The Bike While Celebrating Series Win Over Bangladesh

Sri Lanka completed a swift comeback to sweep Bangladesh 3-0 in the ODI series after a dismal ICC World Cup 2019 campaign. The host defeated the Tigers by 122 runs in the first match to clinch the series convincingly. Meanwhile, Sri Lankan cricketer Kusal Mendis suffered a massive embarrassment in a bid to celebrate the series win.

The Islander delivered a through dominating performance and exactly what they needed after consecutive poor outings in the last three-four years. Batting first, Sri Lanka posted 294 runs from their fifty overs with significant contributions from their batting order. Angelo Mathews shouldered the responsibility of the senior cricketer and led the pack while skipper Dimuth Karunaratne, Kusal Perera and Kusal Mendis chipped in with useful supports. The 1996 World Champions have dominated this series and was on different on Wednesday.

Sri Lanka were equally dominating with the ball. Once Tamim Iqbal – arguably Bangladesh’s best batsman in this eleven – got out, it needed one of Mushfiqur Rahim or Mahmudullah to stand up, but the duo got out cheaply just at the wrong time and things just went downhill for Bangladesh. Dasun Shanka, playing his first game of the series, was nothing short of exceptional while Kasun Rajitha and Lahiru Kumara shared the cleaning up duties at both ends of the innings respectively. Sri Lanka needed this kind of effort to lift their confidence, and they will hope to keep up the excellent work in the future.

In a bid to celebrate Sri Lanka clean sweep, Kusal Mendis took a test ride with the bike veteran all-rounder Angelo Mathew got for his man of the series performance. While taking the trip with a fellow teammate on his back, Kusal slipped off the fell on the ground. Watching the cricketer fall down, the security persons posted on the ground rushed towards them and lifted the bike. Although Mendis didn’t suffer any injury, but the cricketer faced a massive embarrassment in front of a full-packed stadium in Colombo.
