Team India have once again taken the driver’s seat as they are moments away from inflicting a whitewash over South Africa. Asking to bat again after bowling them out for 162 in the first innings, Indian pacer Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav looked on fire to finish off the proceeding today itself.

The host had another good day at business as Umesh started the proceedings to dismiss South Africa’s skipper Faf du Plessis. Young Zubayr Hamza and Temba Bavuma tried to resist adding 89 runs but once the floodgates opened, there was no stopping the India bowlers.

Debutant Shahbaz Nadeem and Ravindra Jadeja returned with two apiece along with Mohammed Shami while Umesh Yadav returned with three and affected a runout. Leading by 335 runs, Virat Kohli enforced a follow-on and the India pacers were once again on the money.

Umesh removed Quinton de Kock before Mohammed Shami launched a serious attack picking three quick wickets to leave South Africa stranded. Zubayr Hamza, Faf du Plessis, and Temba Bavuma were all back in the hut even before they could realise.

Meanwhile, at the stroke of tea, Umesh Yadav bowled a vicious bouncer which hit Dean Elgar’s helmet leaving him seriously injured. Elgar took his eyes off the ball which rammed his helmet after rising off the deck. The physio came out and ran the concussion procedure.

While Dean Elgar walked back on his own as the umpires called for tea; he didn’t return to bat again. George Linde came into the middle to join Heinrich Klaasen. Meanwhile, South Africa can opt for a concussion substitute.
