Prithvi Shaw might miss out from being retained by the Delhi Capitals despite his good run of form and a lot of franchises could eye the talented youngster if the mega auction takes place. Shaw has been in outstanding form in the last three months ever since he was dropped from the Indian squad and he continued into the IPL 2021 too.

He finished as the fourth-highest run-scorer in the tournament with 308 runs in 8 games and he did not show mercy against any bowler. He provided excellent starts at the top of the order and was unstoppable when he gets going. Delhi Capitals might be able to retain only Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant as the Indian contingent and here are 3 teams that can target Prithvi Shaw in IPL 2022 Auction.

Sunrisers Hyderabad:

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Indian contingent hasn’t been good this year and it has been one of the reasons for their downfall in IPL 2021. They have tried out Wriddhiman Saha at the top of the order and it did not work for them. They will need to have more options to chose from their Indian players.

Manish Pandey has been the only batter who has had a fair amount of IPL experience in their batting lineup and adding Prithvi Shaw might just bring a different style to the side. Shaw is very explosive at the start and he can play the role of a Bairstow or a Warner who are unlikely to be retained by the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Mumbai Indians:

Mumbai Indians will have to let go Quinton de Kock if they retain Trent Boult and this might open up a slot in the top order too. Prithvi Shaw will just suit the batting order of Mumbai Indians who have always gone after the bowling from the start. In those flat wickets of Wankhede, Shaw might take advantage of the conditions too.

Shaw likes to hit through the line and Mumbai have a lot of middle-order batsman who loves to do that. Shaw can pair up alongside Rohit Sharma which could be a dangerous opening pair for any opponent and Rohit can play the anchor role too. Mumbai will also need some Indian contingent as they might retain only three Indian players.

Rajasthan Royals have a team that boasts of match-winning overseas players but apart from Sanju Samson, the team lacks a lot of Indian quality batsmen who can change the game. Prithvi Shaw might just be suited to the Rajasthan Royals franchise and he can open alongside Jos Buttler.

Bringing in Shaw might just boost their batting lineup and it can ease up things as the Royals have tried out Jaiswal and Manan Vohra at the top which did not work this season. If Prithvi can open, then the skipper Samson might come out at his preferred number three slot and with Ben Stokes in the lineup, it is as good as the top four it gets.
