Australia all-rounder Cameron Green will have to come up with a brilliant show in IPL 2024 to get a spot in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 squad. Cameron Green is not part of the upcoming T20I series against West Indies and the following T20I series against New Zealand.

However, he has been rested to make him available for the crucial Test series against New Zealand later this month. ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is set to take place in June. Ahead of the tournament, IPL 2024 will take place from March to May.

As a result, Cameron Green will have to pull up his socks in IPL 2024 to justify his selection in the T20 World Cup squad. Cameron Green will play for his new team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2024.

Cameron Green will be firmly in the mix for T20 World Cup: George Bailey

When Cricket Australia Chief Selector George Bailey was asked if Cameron Green is in focus for T20 World Cup 2024, he said that Green is firmly part of the mix. He also added that the medium-pace all-rounder will get a chance in IPL 2024 to showcase his might in the shortest format.

“Yeah, very firmly. We know he’s going to go to the IPL and getting a big batch of T20 cricket in. It’s a constant conversation with multi-format players, working out the priority at any given time, and making sure they get what they need but he’s certainly one whose name I think, as we are finalising that 15 for the World Cup, will be firmly in the mix,” Bailey was quoted as saying by ESPN Cricinfo.

His last two years have been a whirlwind: Goerge Bailey

Cameron Green is one of the few players who are part of the Australian team across all three formats. George Bailey feels that Green will get better as he gains more experience in the national team.

“There’s a skill set there that’s unbelievable across all three formats. [We are] really confident that just continuing to expose him he’ll get better and better and learn more about his game”.

“But like any player, I don’t think it’s going to be a straight line – there’ll be fluctuations throughout, as there always is. His last two years have been a whirlwind, I imagine, at different times. He’s travelled with the team basically non-stop”, the former Australia captain further added.

This year, the 24-year-old player played in the Test series against West Indies, where he clinched 2 wickets across 2 matches and hit a top knock of 42. He was impressive in the AUS vs WI ODI series, with an unbeaten 77-run knock and 2 wickets in the opening ODI clash.

In IPL 2024, Cameron Green will play for his new franchise RCB. He was picked by the franchise through a trade with Mumbai Indians. In the last season, he smashed a century for MI.
