Wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel will be hoping to make his Test debut in the upcoming third Test between India and England. The selectors sprung a big surprise by giving the youngster his maiden Test call-up for the ongoing series.

While he had impressed in the IPL last year and also played some good knocks in red-ball cricket, not many were expecting him to be a part of the Test team for the ongoing series. However, the selectors decided otherwise and picked him in the team. In the first two Tests, Dhruv Jurel did not get a chance in the playing eleven as the team management pinned its faith in KS Bharat.

However, the Andhra wicketkeeper failed to do well with the bat in both games and could make way for his younger teammate in the forthcoming Test. As per reports, the team management has run out of patience with Bharat and it could pave the way for Dhruv Jurel to make his Test debut.

Dhruv Jurel shares his experience:

After being a part of the Indian team for the first time in his career, Dhruv Jurel has shared his experience on how to figure out his seat in the team bus. Newcomers usually find it tough to zero in on the seat in the team bus and Dhruv Jurel has opened up on his experience.

“How did you find your place in the team bus because I have still not figured out where to sit,” Yashasvi Jaiswal asked the wicketkeeper in a video shared by the BCCI.

In reply, the Uttar Pradesh star said: “I was just nervous after hearing of my selection in the Indian team. And then I was worried about where I should be sitting in the team bus. Because if I take a seat and someone else arrives and tells me (to get up) that this is my seat.

“I was nervous. I came up with this strategy that, say hypothetically if the team bus leaves around 8 pm, I will arrive at 7:59 pm after everybody else is settled so I can find my place easily,” he added.

Speaking further, he stated that he would dedicate his debut Indian cap to his father as he opened up on his importance in his life. Hailing his father as his hero, Jurel said: “If I will get my Indian cap, will dedicate it to my father because he’s my father. If I cannot figure out something, I just speak to him. He guides me and has always been my hero.”

Meanwhile, the third match of the five-match IND vs ENG Test series is scheduled to be played from February 15 in Rajkot. The series is currently locked at 1-1.
