Former England pacer Stuart Broad heaped praise on Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who became the reason behind England’s disaster in the first innings of the second Test. Bumrah picked up a six-wicket haul and removed big names such as Ollie Pope, Jonny Bairstow, and Ben Stokes. Bumrah also became the fastest Indian pacer to pick up 150 wickets in the Test format. Bumrah achieved the feat in 64 Test innings.

Jasprit Bumrah ripped through the English batting lineup and took full advantage of the reverse swing that was there for the bowlers on Day 2. Stuart Broad while applauding Bumrah’s performance in the second Test match stated that reverse swing can be very dangerous in a Test match but it is not used most often by bowlers. Broad also termed Bumrah’s toe-crushing yorker to dismiss Ollie Pope as one of the ‘iconic’ dismissals.

Ollie Pope who led England’s comeback in the first Test match was rattled by a toe-crushing missle by Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah set up Pope very brilliantly throughout the over and kept bowling a stump-to-stump line to him. However, on the fifth ball of the over, Bumrah bowled a full-pace yorker to Pope which was missed completely by him and also his furniture was disturbed.

His tweet read, “Subtle reverse swing is the most dangerous weapon in the game. It’s not always used so spectacularly tho.”

The Indian cricket team finished Day 2 of the second Test match against England in a dominant position. India ended the day at 28/0 in their second innings and they currently lead by 171 runs. The English team was wrapped up for 253 runs in their first innings, with Jasprit Bumrah being the star of the Indian bowling lineup.

Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett started off well and added 59 runs for the first wicket. However, Duckett was removed for 21 by Kuldeep Yadav. After Duckett’s departure, Crawley started his counterattack against the Indian bowlers and started to make runs quickly. His innings was ended for 76 runs by Axar Patel.

From here, Jasprit Bumrah began his magic and first removed Joe Root and Ollie Pope in consecutive overs. Afterwards, Jonny Bairstow who was looking to bring the team’s innings back on track, was caught at slips for 25 runs against Bumrah. Ben Foakes and Rehan Ahmed were not able to pick up Kuldeep Yadav’s spin and fell against him for 6 runs each.

Jasprit Bumrah cleaned up the England innings by removing the last hope Ben Stokes for 47, whereas, cleaned up the English tail to complete a sixfer.

Earlier in the day, India started off from 336/6 and ended their first innings at 396 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the top run scorer and slammed a double hundred. Other Indian batsmen played short innings of 20 to 40 runs respectively. India would look to tighten their grip on the second Test and also level the series.
