In the IND vs WI 3rd ODI, the Indian team has a chance to whitewash West Indies for the first time in an ODI series on the latter’s home soil. India has never managed to whitewash West Indies in a bilateral ODI series comprising three or more matches on Caribbean soil. If India manages to defeat West Indies in the IND vs WI 3rd ODI, they will grab their first-ever ODI series sweep in the Caribbean islands.

If India manages to whitewash West Indies, it will also be their 13th ODI series clean sweep. Moreover, it will be their third foreign soil where India will grab an ODI series clean sweep. Earlier, India achieved an ODI series whitewash in Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.

India whitewashed Zimbabwe in an ODI series three times on the latter’s soil in 2013, 2015, and 2016. In 2017, India whitewashed Sri Lanka at the latter’s home in an ODI series. Hence, West Indies can become the only third foreign soil where India can bag an ODI clean sweep.

India Can Bag Double Whitewash Against West Indies in A Calendar Year

India’s victory in IND vs WI 3rd ODI will also mean that it will be their first-ever double whitewash against a team in a calendar year. In February this year, India defeated West Indies in an ODI series 3-0 at home.

Zimbabwe and Bangladesh are the only two teams who have achieved double whitewash against a team in a calendar year. Zimbabwe defeated Bangladesh in 2001- crushed them at home 4-0 and in Kenya 3-0. In 2006, Bangladesh defeated Kenya 3-0 in the ODI series both at home and away soil.
