We all have seen how good Samson is, I thought he was batting really well. When Axar came out to bat, the game was going towards the West Indies. I have seen him very very closely. To me, it was probably the best I have ever seen him bat,” Parthiv told Cricbuzz.

Samson and Iyer’s partnership changed the game: Parthiv Patel

India No.3 Shreyas Iyer (63) played the role of an anchor in his 99-run stand with wicketkeeper Sanju Samson (54) for the fourth wicket. Iyer didn’t go after the big shots except for the one against Kyle Mayers, dispatching over the long-off stands for a six.

Samson also scored his maiden ODI half-century – 54 in 51 balls, including three boundaries and three massive sixes.

Samson and Iyer’s partnership changed the game, India were beginning to lose the plot, but they played with a lot of responsibility and maturity. It is the reason why they are leading in the IPL as well. The run-out miss in the 46th over was also crucial,” Parthiv said.

India have already sealed the three-match series 2-0 and they will play the final ODI against Nicholas Pooran & co on Wednesday (July 22) at Queen’s Park Oval.

On the course of their two-wicket victory in the second ODI, India surpassed Pakistan to beat a single opponent in consecutive ODI series. India has now defeated West Indies in 12 bilaterally ODI series in a row while Pakistan has 11 wins against Zimbabwe.
