India vs West Indies Head To Head Records, 3rd ODI, India Tour Of West Indies 2022. India will play against West Indies in the inconsequential 3rd ODI on 27th July 2022 at 7:00 pm IST in Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad. India won the first 2 matches and in the process won the ODI series 2-0 with one more match to go. They will look to give chances to a few other players in the squad and test their bench strength further.

West Indies on the other hand played impressive cricket despite losing both the matches in this series. They will look for a consolation win before going into the T20I series. Despite being a dead rubber one expect a close contest going by the trend of the series.

In the 2nd ODI, West Indies openers Kyle Mayers (39 runs) and Shai Hope (115 runs) gave an attacking 65-run start and Shai Hope combined with Nicholas Pooran (74 runs) and Shamarh Brooks (35 runs) in the middle overs to score his 13th century. They finished with a massive score of 311/6 in the 50 overs with good cameos in the final overs.

Alzarri Joseph and Jayden Seales were excellent with the ball with combined figures of 20-1-86-3 but the former leaked a few runs in the 46th over of the Indian innings.  Spinners Akeal Hossain and Hayden Walsh were taken for runs ta 8 RPO and Kyle Mayers tried to fill in for them but was unable to stem the run flow effectively.

India`s top order got starts but failed to make them big and was reeling at 79/3 before Shreyas Iyer (64 runs) and Sanju Samson (54 runs) made a 99-run partnership to bring the chase back on track.  Deepak Hooda (33 runs) and Axar Patel (64* runs) then took forward the chase with the latter playing a blinder in the final over of the finish.

Deepak Hooda and Axar Patel had very economical figures and chipped in with a wicket each in the middle overs. Shardul Thakur took 3 wickets while Mohammed Siraj bowled superbly giving runs at less than 5 RPO. Yuzvendra Chahal and Avesh Khan went for a few runs in the last game. Arshdeep Singh might get a chance in the playing XI in this match.

It was back-to-back wins for Team India in the ODI series as they made history on Sunday. The stunning final over win saw India register their 12th consecutive series win against the West Indies in the ODI format.

Shikhar Dhawan-led India will now eye a whitewash having already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the ODI series. With the players in form and the T20I series coming, Team India remains favourite to secure a whitewash.

The dead-rubber encounter presents India a perfect opportunity to hand Arshdeep Singh his debut for the Indian team after warming the bench.

The likes of opener Shubman Gill have given a great account of themselves as they continue to keep Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan out of the Playing 11, but either or both of them could get a chance in the dead rubber. Avesh Khan on the flip side should continue in the Playing 11 having secured his first cap on Sunday.

Considering the series is the only chance for India to tinker with combination, coach Rahul Dravid may want to see Arshdeep Singh. Rahul Dravid has so far changed just one player, bringing in Avesh Khan for Prasidh Krishna. He has followed the pecking order and has not considered using new talent.

That has seen Arshdeep Singh being benched for two consecutive matches. But for the 3rd ODI, India has a chance to change combination with Shardul Thakur looking the ideal choice to be dropped. Shardul Thakur hasn’t lived up to the expectation of a bowling all-rounder role. Even though he has picked up 5 wickets in two games, it has come at a 7.2 economy rate.
