In the second ODI against West Indies on Sunday, Team India accomplished a fantastic chase of 312 and defeated the visitors with 2 wickets and as many balls to spare. The players of both teams were crossing their fingers as only 8 were needed from the final six balls.

In fact, until Axar Patel hit Kyle Mayer’s full toss over long off for a six to decide the match in India’s favour, the spectators watching the late-night match were on edge.

The West Indies gave a strong fight to the Shikhar Dhawan-led Team India, making it a close race to the finish. However, the credit for the victory should go to the batsmen Sanju Samson, Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer who build the foundation for the win before Axar’s heroics saw India close the game.

The Indian players experienced a very high adrenaline rush when their team crossed the finish line with two balls remaining. Siraj recalled the incident and added that after seeing Axar make several impressive shots, he too felt inspired.

I Also Felt Like I Can Hit A Six: Mohammed Siraj

The pacer admitted to feeling like slamming the third ball of the final over when speaking with BCCI.tv after returning to the dressing room. However, he played it wisely into the third man for a single.

“It felt completely different after watching Axar bat. He was in a different zone altogether. Mujhe bhi feel ho raha tha hi mai bhi maar dunga chakka. But sensible yehi tha ki mera single lena (I felt like hitting a six but taking a single was way more sensible), he said.

Kyle Mayers bowled a full toss to Axar when India needed six runs off the final three deliveries and Patel hit a six over his head to finish the game.
