WI vs IND: My Heart Was Racing While Bowling The Last Over - Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj, a fast bowler for Team India, stated that he felt reasonably optimistic about holding the West Indies to 15 runs in the final over of the first ODI. India won by three runs on Friday, July 22 at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad, and now leads the three-match series 1-0.

Siraj bowled to the dangerous Romario Shepherd and the well-positioned Akeal Hosein, giving up only 11 runs in the last over. Even the boundary that he gave up on the second ball through the fine leg, which he hit with accuracy, came off an inside edge.

I Backed My Yorkers In The Last Over- Mohammed Siraj

“I was backing my yorkers to come good in the last over,” Siraj was quoted as saying during an interview with Shreyas Iyer after the match.

“My heart was racing, but I was confident I could win the game for the team,” he stated.

Siraj produced a wide on the off-side with the hosts requiring eight runs off of two balls, but he later recovered to concede only three runs in the final two deliveries.

Siraj claimed that despite experiencing stomach butterflies, he managed to remain composed under pressure.
Siraj concluded with a spell of 10-0-57-2 and took the crucial wickets of West Indies limited-overs captain Nicholas Pooran and opening batter Shai Hope. In addition, the pacer delivered 31 dot balls and checked the scoring rate of the Caribbean batsmen.

Siraj has not been in good form recently. In the 3rd ODI against England despite picking two wickets in his first over he was expensive.

On Sunday, July 24, the same location will play host to the second ODI.
