Australian pacer Jhye Richardson hit a mega jackpot in the recent IPL 2021 Auction as he was picked up by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for a whopping amount of Rx. 14 crores. The IPL 2021 auction saw many players getting huge bids and going for an astronomical amount of money.
Atleast 10 players got a bid of more tha Rs. 10 crores in the auction and Chris Morris was the most expensive player bought not only in the IPL 2021 auction but in the history of the IPL as well, as he was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 16.25 crores.
Jhye Richardson had a lot of hype on him going into the IPL 2021 auction, thanks to his performance for Australia in the 2019 ODI series at home, where he dismissed India captain Virat Kohli thrice in three matches and in the recent Big Bash League 10.
My Name Came Up And I Got Nauseous- Jhye Richardson
Richardson, who is currently under quarantine in New Zealand with the Australia team, who will play five T20Is, spoke on the feelings and emotions he went through when his name came up for auction in Chennai.
“My name came up and I got this wave of (nausea) just not knowing what to expect. For the first, what to me felt like about 20 minutes, no one put their paddle up and it’s one of those things where you’re just like, ‘Oh no’. You have no idea what’s going to happen. Then the first paddle went up, which was probably (only) like 10 seconds or five seconds (later), but it felt like a lifetime,” Richardson told reporters.
I Am So Mentally Exhausted, Its Like I Played A Game Yesterday- Richardson
The fast bowler mentioned that he was watching the IPL 2021 auction from the comforts of his hotel room in Christchurch, New Zealand, he was so mentally exhausted and drained out by the time bidding on his name got over.
“I feel like I played a game yesterday. I mentally exhausted myself from feeling all these emotions, of feeling sick and excited. The emotions just take over and you forget you double-check (the price he was bought for), you triple-check it, you quadruple-check it. It took a moment and it’s still sinking in at the moment.
I almost blanked. I was watching it, but I felt like I wasn’t actually watching it. After everything happened you’re obviously really, really excited but then you just hit this massive wall,” he said.
