Sameer Rizvi, on Monday (February 26), completed a whirlwind triple-century for Uttar Pradesh in their ongoing quarterfinal game against Saurashtra in the Col C K Nayudu Trophy.

On Sunday, he walked out to bat when Uttar Pradesh were on 184 for 3 and helped them close the day on 426 for 5. The right-handed batsman smashed 134 runs from just 117 balls on the opening day of the game after Saurashtra won the toss and opted to field first. He smashed 14 fours and six sixes on the first day of the game in the Under-23 tournament.

On Monday, he started in the same fashion, and Saurashtra bowlers looked absolutely clueless against him. Sameer Rizvi went on to complete his triple century in just 261 balls with the help of 32 fours and 11 sixes. He hit one more six and a four before being dismissed by Adityasinh Jadeja for 312. His 312-run knock came off only 266 deliveries.

Sameer Rizvi eyes IPL success:

Sameer Rizvi will be participating in the IPL for the first time when IPL 2024 gets underway next month. He is set to ply his trade for Chennai Super Kings in the seventeenth edition of the competition. In December last year, the Uttar Pradesh batter grabbed the limelight after Chennai Super Kings spent a whopping amount of Rs 8.40 crores in the auction to secure his services.

He had registered his name at a base price of Rs 20 lakh and went on to become the most expensive uncapped Indian player in the auction. Before the auction, Sameer Rizvi caught everyone’s attention with his power-hitting in the UP T20 league last year.

He scored the fastest century in the inaugural season while leading Kanpur Superstars. He scored two centuries in the competition and scored 455 runs in nine innings. The hard-hitting batsman also hit the most sixes for his side in the UP T20 league.
