Blow for India! KKR coach makes colossal revelation on Rinku Singh's injury

Ryan ten Doeschate, the fielding coach of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), has delivered an update on the fitness of star batsman Rinku Singh.

Despite being one of the best fielders in the team, Rinku Singh has only been used as a batsman in the last couple of games. He was a part of the playing eleven for the first four games of the season but has been used as an impact player in the last couple of games.

A number of eyebrows were raised when he was only named as an impact player for KKR's home game against Lucknow Super Giants last Sunday. He did not come out to the field and with KKR registering an eight-wicket win, Rinku Singh did not get the chance to bat either.

On Tuesday (April 16), KKR named him as one of the substitutes once again for the game against Rajasthan Royals at the Eden Gardens. He did come out to bat and scored an unbeaten 20 but did not come out to field in the second innings of the game.

And Ryan ten Doeschate has revealed the reason behind the same. The former Netherlands and KKR batsman has revealed that Rinku Singh has only been used as an impact player in recent games because he is not fully fit. The KKR fielding coach stated that the team management wanted to give the batter some rest and he would return to field as a fielder only when he is fully fit.

"Rinku Singh is carrying a slight side injury. He is not fully fit and we want to give him some rest, once he is fully recovered, he will back on the ground as fielder," said ten Doeschate in an interview during the game between KKR and RR at the Eden Gardens.

Rinku Singh in IPL 2024: 

Talking about Rinku Singh's performance with the bat in IPL 2024, the southpaw has not really got the chance to showcase his batting talent much so far. He has faced 51 deliveries in six games so far and has scored 83 runs with the help of five fours and as many sixes.

Rinku Singh is one of KKR's most important players and the team will be hoping that their star man delivers for them whenever he gets the chance. He had a stunning campaign in IPL last year when he scored 474 runs at an average of almost 60 and a strike rate of close to 150.
