Watch: Hardik Pandya targeted by SRH fans with 'Rohit, Rohit' chants in IPL 2024

Hardik Pandya made a forgettable return to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad last week. While it was well known that the Gujarat Titans fans were unhappy with him for the way he dumped the team in order to move to Mumbai Indians, not many were expecting him to get such a hostile reception.

The India allrounder made his debut as MI captain during the game against GT and endured a forgettable outing. Not only did his team lose the game, but he was also constantly targeted by the fans. Right from the toss till the end of the game, the local fans made sure to express their displeasure by taking shots at the former GT captain.

During the toss, the fans booed him before taunting him with chants of ‘Rohit, Rohit’. Later a viral clip showed the fans shouting ‘Hardik, Hardik’ when a dog entered the field. Another clip also showed a few fans calling the MI skipper gold digger as he was returning to the dressing room.

Hardik Pandya targeted again:

While Hardik Pandya would have hoped that the situation would change for MI’s second game which is against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad, he was in for a big surprise. The fans in Hyderabad also decided to target the 30-year-old.

Just before the start of the game between SRH and MI at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, the fans decided to take a dig at Hardik Pandya by chanting ‘Rohit, Rohit’. A few fans also booed him while he was training on the field.

Talking about the game, Hardik Pandya won the toss for the second game in a row and opted to bowl first. The five-time IPL champions would be looking to win the game to open their account in IPL 2024. SRH are also eyeing their first win of the tournament after losing their first game against Kolkata Knight Riders.
