Riyan Parag, on Tuesday (April 16), came up with a stunning effort on the field to save five precious runs for his team in the ongoing game between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens.

The RR star was batting at long-on in the final over when Rinku Singh was up against Kuldeep Sen. KKR had already scored 214 runs in 19 overs and RR needed a good final over to restrict KKR to less than 30. And on the very first ball, Rinku Singh nearly hit Kuldeep for a six but was denied by the stunning effort from Riyan Parag.

It was a back-of-length delivery around the off stump from the RR pacer and Rinku Singh hit it towards long-on. The ball was sailing over Riyan Parag's head and looked set to cover the distance for a maximum. However, Riyan Parag timed his jump to perfection and caught the ball with both hands.

With the momentum taking him beyond the ropes, he smartly threw the ball inside the field of play before going over the ropes. While Riyan Parag could not complete the catch, he did manage to save five runs for his side.

Watch the stunning effort from Riyan Parag:

Kuldeep Sen went on to bowl a good final over, conceding only runs although KKR finished their innings with a daunting total of 223/6. Sunil Narine starred with the bat for the home side by smashing his maiden T20 ton. He became the first KKR player to score a century against RR.

Overall, he became only the third KKR player to score a century in the IPL after Brendon McCullum and Venkatesh Iyer. Speaking at the end of the innings, the southpaw said: "(At the start of the season if anyone had told him he'd be in the race for the Orange cap) I would have taken it as a joke because I haven't opened in such a long time or did much with the bat in the years past.

"With GG (Gambhir) coming back, he gave me the confidence and his assurance that I'll open the batting. (Mindset) The job is just to go out there and try to give a good start, whatever the situation is, still keep going because if you try to face dot balls in the powerplay, it could hurt you in the backend. So just go there and try to give your team a good start," he added.
