Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh is likely to be ruled out of entire Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 after injuring himself during the inaugural fixture for SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). The injury-prone Marsh suffered an ankle injury during the match which has been deemed as ‘serious’ by the team sources.

Marsh had picked up the injury after SRH captain David Warner asked him to bowl the fifth over of the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Marsh could not complete the over as he injured himself in the second delivery while stopping a drive from his countryman and skipper Aaron Finch. He, however, went on to bowl to more deliveries before pulling out of the over.

“It seems a serious injury. I am not sure if he be able to compete in any of the matches,” a team source told PTI.

As the match progressed, Marsh had return to bat at No.10 for his franchise, It was a clear sign, then, that he is struggling with the injury and can face further consequences. But to make it worst now sources have suggested that he might miss out on the entire season.

The franchise, however, is yet to issue an official statement about the same.

“It doesn’t look great. A lot of courage from him to walk out there and try his best, but it was unfortunate tonight,” Warner told Star Sports.

“Obviously, what you saw out there, it was quite painful, he can’t put any weight on it,” Warner had said after the match.

The ruling out will be a big blow for SRH as they might now be forced in to bring Dan Christian as a replacement.
