India won the first T20 international against Sri Lanka by 62 runs and, thereby, took a 1-0 lead in the series. Valuable contributions from Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Shreyas Iyer helped the team post 199 runs in the first innings.

The bowlers then restricted Sri Lanka to only 137 runs in the second innings. Heading into the third and final T20I of the series, here’s a look at our predicted XI of the Indian Cricket Team:

Both showed great form in the first match. The duo put on 111 runs for the opening wicket and, thereby, set a solid foundation for a high-scoring total. Rohit Sharma managed to score 44 runs, while Ishan Kishan made 89 runs in 56 deliveries. Both of them should open the batting for India on Sunday.

Middle-Order: Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, Deepak Hooda

Shreyas Iyer loves his playing at number three. On Thursday, he got the opportunity to play at that position and he made full use of that. Iyer managed to score 57 runs in just 28 balls, a knock which came at a strike rate of over 200. With Virat Kohli not available in the series, Iyer should continue to bat at three, followed by Sanju Smason and Deepak Hooda at four and five respectively.

All-rounders: Venkatesh Iyer, Ravindra Jadeja, and Harshal Patel

Ravindra Jadeja’s return to the side has only bolstered India’s batting unit. India now have two outstanding all-rounders in Venkatesh Iyer and Ravindra Jadeja. The former exhibited his batting prowess in the T20 series against West Indies. His presence should keep the team in good stead.

Also, it will be interesting to see if management decides the promote Ravindra Jadeja in the batting order. Furthermore, the team would also want Harshal Patel to play as many matches as possible before the start of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. He is also likely to retain his place in the playing 11 for the match on Sunday.

Bowlers: Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan and Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah marked his return to the T20 side in the first match of the series. Being the vice-captain in the series, he will retain his position in the eleven. The management would also want to give more chances to Ravi Bishnoi and Avesh Khan. They are likely to replace Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Yuzvendra Chahal.
