Robin Uthappa is highly unlikely to play the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2017/18.

Sitanshu Kotak, the Head Coach of Saurashtra, said that Uthappa is in recovery mode for the ankle injury he suffered:

“He was also rested for one of the league stage games. We need one off Jadeja (Ravindra) or Uthappa when we play. Uthappa’s participation is yet to be decided for the final. We will take a call on the match day,” said Kotak at the end of the semi-final between Saurashtra and Andhra Pradesh.

Uthappa is suffering from an ankle injury.

He was expected to be fit for the semi-final but missed the contest.

He switched his base to Saurashtra before the start of the season.

Uthappa played for Karnataka for 15 years before he decided to play for the new state.

The opening batsman was dropped from the side (Karnataka) for the quarterfinal of Ranji Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tournament, which was deemed to be one of the reasons behind him leaving the state.

Meanwhile, Saurashtra defeated Andhra Pradesh in the semi-final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy to qualify for the final.

After being asked to bat first, Saurashtra posted a total of 255.

Ravindra Jadeja and Arpit Vasavada scored 56 and 58 runs respectively to help their side post a competitive total.

Andhra Pradesh did not have a good start, and they lost their first wicket on 21.

The second wicket fell after a distance of 44 runs.

Post that, wickets continued to fall and in the end, Andhra Pradesh were bowled out for 196, thus losing the game by 59 runs.

Dharmendrasinh Jadeja shone with the ball with four wickets for 40 runs.

Saurashtra will now face Karnataka in the final on February 27 at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in New Delhi.

The success of Saurashtra will heavily depend on Pujara and Jadeja, in the absence of Uthappa.

For Karnataka, Mayank Agarwal has been the key for them.

A good start can see Karnataka posting a high total on the board.

They have posted comfortable wins in both the knockouts game till now, unlike Saurashtra.
