Punjab Kings (PBKS) takes on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in match 42 of IPL 2024 in Kolkata on Friday, April 26. This is the first meeting between the two sides.
Punjab Kings are heading into this game after four back-to-back losses. They have lost the last four games against SRH, RR, MI and GT.
The side has been unable to lose some very close games especially matches against RR and MI. PBKS took the game till the last over against GT but yet again failed to defend the total.
PBKS are sweating over the return of Shikhar Dhawan who has now missed the last three games for his side with a shoulder niggle. He played this last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
A loss here for the Punjab Kings would be a big blow for the side in their quest to make the IPL 2024 playoffs. They are yet to play a clinical game in the season and would hope for the rub of the green going their way.

Jitesh will slot in at five He has been given opportunities but has not made the most of it. His performance might not see him in India's World Cup squad.
Shashank Singh
Shashank will slot in at six. He along with Ashutosh Sharma are the two designated finishers of PBKS. So far this season he has scored 196 runs at a strike rate of nearly 170 from 8 games.
Ashutosh Sharma
Ashutosh will slot in at seven. He has scored 159 runs at a strike rate of almost 190. Against GT, he scored just 8 off 3 balls and could not kick on.
Harpreet Brar
Left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar will slot in at eight. He scored 29 off 12 balls against GT and went wicketless for 35 runs. He is PBKS' premier spinner in this season.s IPL.
Harshal Patel
Harshal will slot in at nine. Against GT, he picked up 3/15 and tried to keep his team in the game. Overall, he has picked 13 wickets from 8 games now and is third on the Purple Cap list.
Kagiso Rabada
Kagiso Rabada will be the fourth overseas player in the XI. He will come up against the likes of Sunil Narine and Andre Russell where in lies the chance of dismissing them. Rabada has picked up 10 wickets from 8 games.
Arshdeep Singh
Arshdeep concludes the likely XI for PBKS against KKR. He picked up 1 / 17 against GT and has picked up 10 wickets from seven games in this season so far.
Impact Sub- Prabhsimran Singh
PBKS has stuck with Prabhsimran as their Impact sub for the majority of the tournament. They might continue doing so. He scored 35 off 21 balls against GT. He has scored 154 runs so far at a strike rate of over 140.
