The KKR vs PBKS IPL 2024 match will be played in Kolkata on April 26 Friday. This is the first meeting between the two sides in this year's IPL. KKR are placed second while PBKS is ninth on the table heading into this match.

Kolkata Knight Riders

The batting lineup of KKR have consistently scored runs. They have more than two to three players step up in every game and take the team beyond 200. They scored 223 against RR and 222 against RCB in their last two games.

The real problem for this team lies in the bowling department. The spinners have been effective as ever but is their pace attack that is leaking runs from the other end. Mitchell Starc in his first seven games has picked up just two wickets and gave away nearly 300 runs.

The KKR think tank should think about giving him a bit of a break and bring in Dushmantha Chameera in the remaining seven league games. Overall, the bowling group needs to tighten up.

Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings have lost their last four games heading into this game. They are placed ninth and missing their captain in the playing XI for the last three games. He last played in the match against SRH.

Punjab Kings have been unlucky to finish on the around side of a few close games in this year's IPL so far. They also need to rejig their batting and bowling in the remaining six league games of the season.

KKR vs PBKS Key Factors

Pitch Conditions

The Eden Gardens pitch has been a very good one for batting so far this season. THree 200-plus scores have been posted in evening games. KKR posted 223 and 222 against RR and RCB in the last two games. If the pitch stays the same, we can expect another high-scoring game.

Form and Fitness

Fitness wise both teams have a few concerns. Nitish Rana has been out of the team with an injured finger and has not played the ga,e. Rinku Singh has just batted in the matches that he has played for KR and has not taken the field as he is suffering from a niggle.

For PBKS, skipper Shikhar Dhawan is suffering from a shoulder niggle and was ruled out for at least seven to 10 days. It will be interesting to see whether he returns for the match against KKR.

Form-wise, the KKR batters are in good form giving them consistent starts and posting 200-plus totals. Spin continues to be KKR's strength with the ball. The real problem lies in the seam bowling department and more so with the form of Mitchell Starc.

He has given away nearly 300 runs in his first seven games. KKR can look towards Dusmantha Chameera for the next seven games. Speaking about the form of the PBKS batters and bowlers, they have not fired in unison so far in the season.

He had handled the spinners particularly well while Mitchell Starc has been at the receiving end of some stick in the tournament. In the absence of Shikhar Dhawan, PBKs under Sam Curran's leadership have been all over the place.
