Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) takes on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in match 42 of IPL 2024 next Friday, April 26. This is their fifth overall game at Eden Gardens and their first against Punjab Kings this season.

KKR have won four out of the five games played at the Eden Gardens so far. After going down narrowly in their previous game against RR KKR were lucky enough to finish on the right side of the result against RCB.

Mitchell Starc almost failed to defend 21 off the final over. The over was a sign that he is not in the best of form at the moment and probably needs a break. The pressure of the price tag is starting to take its toll on Starc and he now must be given a break for a few games.

KKR have the option to bring in Dushmantha Chameera who is a perfect replacement for someone like Starc. He will be a big addition to the side with the likes of Harshit Raa and Vaibhav Arora. The management will be also sweating over the return of Nitish Rana who has been out with a finger injury after the first game against SRH.

KKR's batting group has been consistently putting up scores over 2-00. With the ball, spin has been their biggest strength. Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, and Varun Chakravarthy have picked up nine wickets each. The tri has worked wonders with the ball so far this season for KKR.

Phil Salt (WK)

Salt has been giving KKR blazing starts alongside Narine. He scored 48 off just 14 balls against RCB at a strike rate of 342.86. He has scored over 200 runs in the season so far.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi

The youngster has made most of his opportunities batting at three. KKR is likely to stick with him at that number. He scored a fifty on his IPL debut for KKR against DC.

Shreyas Iyer (C)

Iyer will slot in at four. He scored his first fifty of the season against RCB. He spoke about playing the anchor role for his team throughout the season. He has scored 190 runs this season so far.

Nitish Rana / Venkatesh Iyer

KKR are anticipating the return of Rana in the next match against PBKS. The return of Nitsh Rana might see Venkatesh Iyer get dropped from the XI. He has made most of the chances given to him. He scored a quickfire 16 off 8 balls against RCB.

Rinku Singh

Rinku will slot in at six in the lineup. Harsha Bhogle has been constantly harping about the fact that he is batting way below in the lineup. Against RCB, he scored 24 off 16 balls.

Andre Russell

Varun will slot in at nine. He has picked up 1 for 36 against KKR He has now taken nine wickets in seven games for KKR and has silently done the job for his side.

Dushmantha Chameera

KKR should choose Chameera for the next few games and give Mitchell Star a break. The Aussie pacer was taken down for 55 off his three overs and took just one wicket. He almost spilled 21 off the final over of the game. Chameera with his pace is an able replacement for Starc.

Impact Sub-Vaibhav Arora / Suyash Sharma

The, move to go in with Suyash Sharma as the Impact sub did not work out in the last match against RCB. The leggie bowled just two overs for 33 runs. Vaibhav on the other hand, had managed to win the new ball and has made an impact as an Impact Sub.
