The Indian team has held on to its third spot on the Men’s ICC ODI Team Rankings following a convincing 2-1 series win over World Champions, England, in their own den.

Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya proved to be the protagonists in the final ODI as they helped the Men in Blue chase down the target of 260 with 47 balls to spare at Old Trafford on Sunday.

It was a brilliant partnership between the duo as the visitors were struggling at 72/4 in their pursuit of the series victory. Pant registered his maiden hundred, eventually finishing off the game in style while Hardik took 4/24 and scored a 55-ball 71 to help the team.

With that, India now has 109 rating points, 3 ahead of fourth-placed Pakistan. New Zealand is at the top with 128 ratings while England is in second place with 121 rating points.

South Africa is sitting in sixth place but they have a chance to overtake Pakistan when they visit England for a 3-match ODI series. If the Proteas whitewash the series, they move up to the fourth place.

India’s next assignment is against the West Indies and although they cannot overtake England, they have a chance of creating a bigger gap between themselves and the rest of the pack.
