South Africa Women’s National Cricket Team players Laura Wolvaardt and Ayabonga Khaka have made big jumps in the latest ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings, released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday, June 21.

The 23-year-old South African opening batter Laura Wolvaardt batted brilliantly for the Proteas team in their 3rd and final ODI match against Ireland at the Castle Avenue, Dublin. She scored 89 runs off 128 balls, including 6 fours.

Wolvaardt’s wonderful innings against Ireland helped her go past Australia skipper Meg Lanning and into 4th place in the latest rankings for batters. Wolvaardt has 713 rating points in her bag and Meg Lanning has 710 rating points in her bag.

The ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings, led by Alyssa Healy (785 rating points), saw only one change inside the top 10. However, South African batter Lara Goodall, who scored 143 runs for her team and finished as the leading run-getter in the series against Ireland, moved up 15 places to get ranked at the 43rd spot in the rankings.

The experienced South African pacer Ayabonga Khaka has made a big jump in the ICC Women’s ODI Bowling Rankings as she moved two places to claim the 5th position in the latest rankings after an impressive run in the series against Ireland.

Ayabonga Khaka didn’t pick many wickets in the three-match ODI series against Ireland as she finished with only 2 wickets in her bag. However, she was unplayable for many of the young Ireland batters and she finished the three-match series with a remarkable economy rate of just 1.40.

Meanwhile, Khaka has leapfrogged veteran India pacer Jhulan Goswami and teammate, Marizanne Kapp, to claim the 5th spot with 668 rating points in her bag. The No.1 ranked bowler in the ICC Women’s ODI Bowling Rankings is England’s Sophie Ecclestone (771 rating points).

Meanwhile, the South Africa Women’s National Cricket Team captain Sune Luus has moved up four places to ninth in the rankings for all-rounders and England’s Nat Sciver is still the top-ranked all-rounder with 393 rating points in her bag.
