The year 2023 saw a lot of Test cricket action, be it the Border-Gavaskar trophy (India vs Australia), the World Test Championship final (Australia vs India), the Ashes (England vs Australia), and many other series for the new WTC Cycle (2023-2025). Red-ball cricket is the longest format of the game and is also regarded as the toughest format of the game because of the red ball that always troubles the batters in most conditions.

Australia completely dominated the Test circuit in 2023. Apart from losing the Border-Gavaskar trophy in India, Australia won the WTC Final and also retained the Ashes in England. Australian batters especially dominated the year 2023 in red-ball cricket as four of the top five run-getters in Red-ball cricket in 2023 were Australians.
