The IPL 2021 concluded with the final encounter between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, which saw MS Dhoni-led CSK bagging the victory by 27 runs. As a result, CSK also clinched their 4th IPL title. CSK posted a massive total of 192-3 batting first and later restricted KKR to 165-9 in the 2nd innings.

The squads for the ICC tournament have already been announced by all the participating teams. There are few players who gave astonishing performances in IPL 2021 but will not be part of T20 World Cup 2021. Here we take a look at 5 such players.

Harshal Patel is another player who is not part of the ICC T20 World Cup despite a marvellous performance in IPL 2021. The uncapped Indian player earned the purple cap for taking most wickets in the tournament. The RCB pacer picked 32 wickets in 15 matches at an average of 14.34.

He owned an economy of 8.14. Harshal Patel is an uncapped player and he has no international experience, this might be the reason for selectors overlooking him for the ICC event.

Shikhar Dhawan is another player who performed extremely well in IPL 2021 but won’t be part of T20 World Cup 2021. The Delhi Capitals opener mustered 587 runs in 16 innings at an average of 39.13. The left-handed batsman finished as the 4th highest run-getter in the tournament.

Dhawan also slammed 3 half-centuries. Due to the intense competition for the openers in Indian team, Dhawan was overlooked behind the likes of players like KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, and Ishan Kishan.

Man of the IPL 2021 Final, Faf du Plessis was a star performer in IPL 2021 but is not part of the South Africa squad for T20 World Cup 2021. Playing for CSK, Plessis smacked 633 runs in 16 matches and finished as the 2nd highest run-getter. He also hit 6 half-centuries in the tournament while batting at an average of 45.21.

However, Cricket South Africa did not pick Faf du Plessis for T20 World Cup 2021 in spite of him being available for the tournament. According to reports, the relations between CSA and Plessis is not in good terms due to which the board ignored the former skipper for the ICC event.

Sunil Narine impressed fans with his spin attack in UAE during IPL 2021 but West Indies have excluded him from the T20 World Cup 2021 squad. The right-arm spinner picked 16 wickets in 14 games for Kolkata Knight Riders at an average of 22.56. He bowled few match-winning spells for KKR, which helped them to reach the final. Narine also owned a brilliant economy of just 6.44.

Narine has not played for West Indies since August 2019 for different reasons like the controversy surrounding his bowling action. Moreover, he failed to meet the Cricket West Indies minimum fitness criteria due to which he was ignored for the T20 World Cup 2021. Kieron Pollard recently also confirmed that Narine will not be part of T20 WC 2021 despite of his good show in UAE in IPL 2021.
