BCCI Likely To Proceed With Draft Process For Players In Women's IPL

In the 91st Annual General Meeting of BCCI, it was discussed that Women’s IPL will take place in 2023. This news has given joy to the Women’s Cricket Team as now they can get ample practice before any marquee event. Earlier cricketers like Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana had raised their voices for Women’s IPL.

The tournament is expected to start after the end of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which will take place from February 10 to 26 in South Africa. It is assumed that 5 teams will participate in the inaugural Women’s IPL and there are chances that the tournament would be held in the first half of March.

BCCI To Introduce Draft System

BCCI is planning to go with the Draft Process for Women’s IPL. BCCI is expecting 60 Indian players to be picked.  According to the sources, a playing 11 can have up to 5 overseas players which is quite astonishing.  A squad is expected to be of 18 players. There are chances that WIPL can become the biggest Women’s T20 League.

Women’s IPL Invaluable

Indian Women’s Cricket Team has been failing at the crucial junction for a lot of time now. With a lot of ICC Events aligned net, the inception of WIPL can prove to be the turning point in Indian Women’s Cricket.

BCCI would be hopeful that WIPL proves to be a grand success for the team. It will be interesting to see how a billion people respond to the WIPL as the major attention would be towards IPL.
