Australia and Delhi Capitals (DC) batter Jake Fraser-McGurk has been making the headlines with his explosive batting in the ongoing IPL 2024. Delhi Capitals (DC) latest batting sensation is a new product to world cricket, but his fearless batting has now become the talk of the town.

Fraser-McGurk displayed some fireworks during the Delhi Capitals (DC) 67-run defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in match No. 35 of the ongoing IPL 2024 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Saturday, April 20.

The young Australian batter set the stage on fire with his mind-blowing knock of 65 runs off just 18 balls at an incredible strike rate of 353.33. He also slammed seven sixes and five fours in his blistering knock against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Fraser-McGurk also stitched an 84-run partnership with Abhishek Porel (42) for the third wicket.

During the course of his stormy knock, Fraser-McGurk broke his Australia senior and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Travis Head's record by slamming his half-century in just 15 balls, which is now the third fastest in the history of the IPL and the fastest fifty this season.

He also surpassed Chris Morris to record the fastest fifty for DC in IPL history. Chris Morris had set the record in 2016 after scoring a 17-ball fifty against the now-defunct Gujarat Lions at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

He has also the record for the fastest century in List A cricket to his name, achieving the feat in just 29 balls. Fraser-McGurk impressed one and all with his furious batting, including Michael Vaughan.

Having been impressed by the Australian batter’s explosive batting in the ongoing IPL 2024, former England skipper Michael Vaughan backed Fraser-McGurk to make the cut to the national squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Vaughan hailed Fraser-McGurk and said that the Kangaroos will certainly pick the 22-year-old batting all-rounder for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, which will be held in the USA and West Indies in June. He wrote on X, “Surely the Aussies will pick Jake Fraser-McGurk for the T20 World Cup.”

Notably, Jake Fraser-McGurk joined the Delhi Capitals (DC) as a replacement for the injured Lungi Ngidi, and he has quickly made an impact with the bat in the ongoing IPL 2024, where he is touted as one of the most exciting young talents.

Playing his debut season, Fraser-McGurk has already amassed 140 runs with the help of two fifties in just three games for Delhi at an impressive strike rate of 222.22, which is really good for his T20 World Cup 2024 chances.

Coming back to the DC vs SRH match, Delhi, chasing a daunting target of 267, bowled out 199 to suffer their fifth defeat in the ongoing IPL 2024. They are now ranked 7th in the points table. DC will next face the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 40th IPL 2024 game at the same venue in New Delhi.
