ILT20 2024: ILT20 Season 2 To Commence On January 19

On Wednesday, August 23, the dates for the second season of the International League T20 (ILT20 2024) were announced by the Emirates Cricket Board.

The tournament is scheduled to commence on January 19 and the final is set to be played on February 18. It will once again clash with the second season of the SA20, which will be played between January 10 to February 10. The ILT20 2024 will be played across three venues – Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah – in the United Arab Emirates.

A total of 34 matches, including playoffs and final, are set to be played in the ILT20 2024 and six teams – Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Desert Vipers, Dubai Capitals, Gulf Giants, MI Emirates, and Sharjah Warriors – will battle it out to claim the prestigious title.

Gulf Giants were the champions of the inaugural edition of the ILT20 as they defeated the Desert Vipers by seven wickets at the Dubai International Stadium to clinch the title.

The first season of the ILT20 was a success as it was the second most-watched league in India. The ILT20 2023 gathered a total of 367 million views from around the world.

ILT20 2024: Top Overseas Signings Announced

Top overseas signings for ILT20 2024 have already been announced. India’s Ambati Rayudu will be joining the MI Emirates squad and Australia’s David Warner along with England’s Mark Wood has signed up with Dubai Capitals. Also, Shadab Khan will join his teammates Shaheen Shah Afridi and Azam Khan at the Desert Vipers.

As the schedule of the ILT20 2024 will clash with the England tour of India 2024, players like Joe Root and Mark Wood are expected to pull out of the tournament to represent their national team in the Test series against India.

Abu Dhabi Knight Riders

New signings: Brandon McMullen, David Willey, Jake Lintott, Josh Little, Laurie Evans, Michael Pepper, Ravi Bopara, and Sam Hain.

Retentions: Ali Khan, Andre Russell, Charith Asalanka, Joe Clarke, Sabir Ali, Sunil Narine, Marchant de Lange, and Matiullah Khan.

Desert Vipers

New signings: Adam Hose, Azam Khan, Bas de Leede, Michael Jones, Shadab Khan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Retentions: Alex Hales, Ali Naseer, Colin Munro, Dinesh Chandimal, Gus Atkinson, Luke Wood, Matheesha Pathirana, Rohan Mustafa, Sheldon Cottrell, Sherfane Rutherford, Tom Curran, and Wanindu Hasaranga.

Dubai Capitals

New signings: Andrew Tye, Dasun Shanaka, David Warner, Mark Wood, Max Holden, Mohammad Mohsin, Nuwan Thusara, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Roelof van der Merwe, Sadeera Samarawickrama, and Sam Billings.

Retentions: Dushmantha Chameera, Joe Root, Raja Akif, Rovman Powell, and Sikandar Raza.

Gulf Giants

New signings: Dominic Drakes, Jamie Smith, Jordan Cox, Karim Janat, Mujeeb-ur-Rahman, Saurabh Netravalkar.
