After showing resistance in the first session of the day, Ravichandran Ashwin undid Dinesh Chandimal just after the lunch break. Sri Lankan went into lunch break with their score at 119/4 with the only Angelo Matthews losing his wicket in the morning session. Dhananjaya De Silva and Dinesh Chandimal added 28 runs after the lunch break before Chandimal lost his off stump.

Chandimal had survived a scare in the first session as he was clean bowled off a beauty by Ravindra Jadeja at 27, but he stopped by the umpires to check the legitimacy of the delivery. Chandimal was adjudged not out after the reviews showed that Jadeja had stepped over the line.

However, fortunately for the Indian, this wasn’t the case when Chandimal stepped out to play the ball down the track, but the ball spun, and Chandimal played all over the delivery, and the ball went on to hit the off-stump.
