Former Indian selector Gagan Khoda doesn’t see any competitors for Virat Kohli to become the next captain of the Indian side and lauded the skipper for his consistency in all three formats. Virat Kohli is one of the best batsmen in the world and is among the few to average more than 50 in all three formats. His captaincy has taken India to the next level in tests despite him not being able to win ICC Trophies.

There has been a lot of criticism over Virat Kohli’s captaincy after India lost the World Test Championship final against New Zealand, which is unfair considering his numbers. He holds a key position in the batting lineup and he is a match-winner with the bat. Kohli has been going through a rough patch with no international centuries in the last two years.

Gagan Khoda Confident Of Kohli Doing Well In England

Gagan Khoda mentioned that there are no competitors for Kohli’s captaincy at the moment and reminded the phenomenal records that Kohli holds until now in all the formats. He added that Kohli will remain the captain in the future too and backed the Indian skipper to come out of the rough patch soon in the England series.

“There’s no other person to captain the side. I think Virat has done an excellent job. If you look at his records, he’s been phenomenal in all three formats. I don’t think there’s any pressure on Virat regarding his captaincy. He will still be the captain in the coming years.”

“As for his batting, he’s only human, you have to give him that much. There will be some bad patches, he’ll overcome that. He’s a very hardworking guy and I seriously feel that he’s going to do well in England,” Gagan Khoda said in an interview.

“Crucial Series For Both Rahane And Pujara” – Gagan Khoda

Gagan Khoda mentioned the pressures involved in the international circuit once there are two to three bad series. He added the experience should count and was confident about Rahana and Pujara coming off the hurdle. Both these players have been under criticism for their inconsistent show in test cricket.

“It all happens. If you have two or three bad series, you know, the pressure is there on the player, doesn’t matter how much you have played. It’s a crucial, crucial series for both Rahane and Pujara but given the experience, I think they are going to come out of it,” Gagan Khoda added.
