IND vs NEP: Watch - Rohit Sharma In Absolute Shock As Ishan Kishan Drops A Sitter In Asia Cup 2023

After the washout against Pakistan, the Indian Cricket Team are currently facing Nepal in the 5th game of Asia Cup 2023 in Pallekele. The Rohit Sharma’s men have opted to field first in the must-win game and it hasn’t been the kind of start they would’ve wanted. 

India have been absolutely sloppy in the field and skipper Rohit Sharma has been in disdain with the kind of performance his side has displayed. The captain looked absolutely shocked especially after keeper Ishan Kishan dropped a sitter of Kushal Bhurtel. 

Mohammad Shami bowled a short delivery down the leg to which Kushal Bhurtel tried to pull and the ball kissed his glove. Ishan Kishan moved to his left to take the catch but the ball went through him and reached the boundary ropes. Captain Rohit Sharma couldn’t collect what happened as he gave a shocking reaction.

This was, however, not the first catch that India dropped. Shreyas Iyer dropped an easy catch in the slips on the last ball of the first over. If this was not enough, Virat Kohli on the first ball of the second over dropped a sitter at covers. 

Nepal openers have taken full advantage of the sloppy fielding by the Indian team. They have made Men in Blue pay for the dropped chances and have smashed a solid fifty-plus partnership inside the powerplay.

India skipper Rohit Sharma spoke about his decision to field first in Nepal. He said that he wanted to give his bowlers game time in the important game. 

Rohit Sharma also lauded Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya for the way they batted with maturity in the first game against Pakistan. Speaking at the toss, he explained: 

“We are gonna bowl first. No particular reason. We batted in the last game. We want to see what the bowlers have in offer for us. I don’t know about the weather. We just want to have the bowlers to have a game under the belt. The way we batted under pressure, Hardik and Ishan batted brilliantly. Ishan showed a lot of maturity and took the game on as well. Good signs for us. It’s another important game for us. One change. Bumrah is not available, we’ve got Shami in.” 

It’s a must-win encounter for Team India as they are yet to book a berth in super 4. A win here would take them in the next stage but a loss can put them in trouble.
