South African batter Aiden Markram turned out to be the savior for South Africa in the second innings of the Cape Town Test against India. The right-handed batter hit a fantastic hundred against a fiery Indian pace attack and is trying his best to help Proteas come back in the match. It was Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who broke the backbone of the South African batting lineup on Day 2 and completed the ninth fifer of his Test career.

Aiden Makram played an innings of 106 runs from 103 balls and hit the sixth hundred of his Test career. Markram slammed a total of 17 fours and two sixes in his innings and was finally out after playing one of the best knocks of his Test career to Mohammed Siraj.

Aiden Markram completed his hundred on the last ball of the 30th over by hitting a boundary to inform Jasprit Bumrah. The South African dressing room was on their feet and lauded Markram’s hundred with both hands. Dean Elgar who is playing the last Test of his international career was also pumped up by seeing Markram’s fantastic hundred.

Aiden Markram changed his gears immediately and hit Prasidh Krishna for two fours and two sixes in the 29th over. Markram completed his hundred on 99 balls which was the sixth-fastest hundred by any South African batsman. The fastest South African to hit a Test hundred is AB de Villiers who did it in 75 balls against India in Centurion in 2010.

Aiden Markram failed to score runs in the first innings of both Test matches and has come back with a bang.

South Africa currently lead by 64 runs as they lose their eighth wicket in the form of Aiden Markram. The Indian team still have the upper hand over the match and are the favorites to win it. They will aim to remove the last two South African wickets quickly and chase down anything under 100 runs.
