India vs England 2021: Dont' Think Virat Kohli Has Any Sort Of Weakness - Moeen Ali
Updated - 31 Jan 2021, 04:23 PM
England all-rounder, Moeen Ali lavishes rich praises on Indian skipper and talisman batsman, Virat Kohli as both the players will face off in the upcoming 4-match Test series which will commence on 5th February in Chennai.
Moeen Ali acknowledges that Virat Kohli is someone who is close to unbreachable and doesn’t have any major chinks in his armour. The off-spinner reckons it would be difficult to dismiss the host skipper – but his side also has a quality pace attack.
Moeen Ali is making a return to the Test side having last played in the five-day format for England in the 2019 Ashes Test at Edgbaston. He toured to Sri Lanka as well, where Joe Root’s side whitewashed the Islanders, but Ali has to miss out on both Tests as he tested positive for the coronavirus upon arrival in Sri Lanka and was placed in an extended quarantine.
Virat Kohli too is returning to India’s eleven and will lead the side again after having returned back from Australia to attend the birth of his child. He missed the last three Tests of the series Down Under. The right-hander takes a liking against the English bowlers: he amassed 593 runs in the previous tour to England in 2018; and smashed 655 runs in the last home series against the Three Lions.
“How do we get him out? He’s obviously an amazing player, world-class, he’s very motivated to do well and I’m sure he’ll be even more motivated after they did well in Australia and he had to leave for the birth of his child. I don’t know how we’re going to get him out [specifically] because I don’t think he has any sort of weakness but we have a good bowling attack, some pace in the line-up,” as quoted by ESPNCricinfo, Moeen Ali said.
Moeen Ali is released by Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the IPL 2021 auction
Royal Challengers Bangalore have released Moeen Ali amongst 10 players ahead of the auction for the IPL 2021. Spread across three seasons, the left-handed batsman played 19 games for the Virat Kohli-led franchise.
Considering Ali’s numbers for RCB it comes a bit of a surprise that he has been let go. He harrumphed 309 runs at a strike rate of 158.46 and took 10 and an economy of 7.14. However, last season, with the presence of big overseas players and a need to play overseas fast bowlers, the Englishman was picked in the playing eleven only thrice and couldn’t make any telling contribution.
