Punjab Kings (PBKS) registered their 3rd win of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 as they defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 8 wickets. It was a sensational effort from their end with the bat as they added two important points under their belt, chasing the highest total ever in the T20s.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were asked to bat first and it was a sensational outing for them at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. They made sure that they piled up a gigantic total on the board and made the crowd's money worth who turned out in numbers to support the home team

Sunil Narine (71) and Phil Salt (75) put up a show with the bat right from the start and made sure that they took their team off the brutal start. The duo scored 76 runs in the powerplay and put the opposition under immense pressure, smashing bowlers all over the park.

Both the openers brought out their best with the bat and slammed brutal half-centuries, stitching 138 runs for the opening partnership. After they got out, Venkatesh Iyer (39*) played a valiant hand with the bat and made sure that momentum stayed with his team. 

Andre Russell (24) and skipper Shreyas Iyer (28) played blistering cameos with the bat down the order as the home team went past 250 runs. Based on the collective effort, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) posted the total of runs on the board. 

For Punjab Kings, Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 2/45. Apart from him skipper Sam Curran, Harshal Patel, and Rahul Chahar picked one wicket each with the ball at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

KKR vs PBKS IPL 2024 Match 42- Punjab Kings innings: Prabhsimran Singh, Jonny Bairstow and Shashank Singh set the stage on fire 

Punjab Kings came out all guns blazing with the bat in the chase. Prabhsimran Singh (54) and Jonny Bairstow added 93 runs with the bat for the opening partnership. What was impressive was they scored all the runs inside the power play.

After that, Rilee Rossouw (26) and Bairstow did further carnage with the bat and put Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers under immense pressure. Bairstow (108*) got a brutal century and Shashank Singh (68*) supported him well as Punjab Kings chased the target with 8 balls to spare.
