India vs England 2021: Team India Players Return Negative For The First Of Three Covid Tests; Families Allowed To Stay With Cricketers During Hard Quarantine

In the lead-up to the series opener of the four-Test match rubber against England, Team India players have returned negative for the first 3 RT- PCR tests for the Wuhan virus.

Players will have to return negative on two more occasions before they kickstart their training for the series

International cricket returns to India after a hiatus of almost 14 months and for the first time since the outbreak of the coronavirus. India was supposed to host South Africa in a three-match One Day International series last March but the rubber had to be postponed as the virus tightened its grip over the entire world.

India will now host England in a full series consisting of four Tests, 5 T20Is, and three ODIs. The first two Tests will take place at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai behind closed doors.

The Indian players arrived in Chennai earlier this week and both the teams are staying in the same Leela Hotel, where they will now undergo hard quarantine.

According to a report published in the Press Trust of India, the players will undergo a similar kind of quarantine as they did during the Indian Premier League in the UAE last year.

The players will have to contend with doing physical exercises in their hotel rooms under the supervision of Nick Webb and Soham Desai.

Meanwhile, the BCCI has allowed the players to stay with their families during the hard quarantine in Chennai. The likes of Ajinkya Rahane, Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma have all checked-in with their respective families.

The first Test between India and England will kickstart on February 05.
